CT Rail - Where can you go with it?

This is the second in a series of articles on rail transit in Connecticut.

A look at Connecticut's rail map — and everything it's missing

After the trips I described in my last article, I was excited. Trains were cheaper, less stressful, and surprisingly practical for getting to New York, D.C., and Boston. So, I did what anyone does when they're excited about something—I started looking to see how far I could go with it. What about commuting in state or out of state? Or for leisure and fun events? With those destinations in mind, I pulled up the CT Rail and Amtrak maps for Connecticut, expecting to find a network that connects people like DC Metro. Instead, I found two main lines.

Train travel - It's better than you thought.

[This is the first in a series of articles on rail travel in CT]

On a recent return from Washington, D.C., a late-season snowstorm shut down the highways. Cars were crawling on I-95. Flights out of Reagan were grounded. I was on a train, watching the snow fall over empty streets at sixty miles an hour, reading a book. I was home before midnight. That trip changed how I think about regional travel.

"War of the Roses" and other crap from Courtney in the Morning

I really can't stand Courtney in the morning on Kiss 95.7.
Aside from the trashy content on the show, she has this really reprehensible segment called the "War of the Roses" where her team (typically) calls a boyfriend/fiancee/husband at the behest of some worried women afraid that he is cheating.
The plot is to offer him free roses live on air (while the worried woman is listening) to see where he sends it. If he sends it to someone other than said women... he is publicly embarrassed.
Normally, I am on NPR but they are in their second week of fundraising so this time I listened in....

Daddy, what's happy hour?

The family went down to DC this weekend to attend DW's Cousins' wedding and we stayed across the street from Sequoia's, a very famous restaurant that overlooks the Potomac river. DED and I had time to kill until the wedding so I though it would be nice to take her there since the view is great, the trees with the xmas lights are very pretty, and I was a little nostalgic, since The Wife and I had spent many an evening there during our dating days. This is one of the more precious nuggets of conversation with her...
